Full time Profession: Fille au pair
Location: Just west of Paris, France
Most recent accomplishment: Gatecrashing at Paris Fashion Week (4 successes: Elie Saab, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Martin Grant and Gaspard Yurkievich!!) and being photographed for Vogue.fr street style! It was so surreal for this Oregon girl! Thanks largely to my blog, I’ve had the opportunity to join the Paris team for the new fashion magazine Astonish (astonishmagazine.com) and will be helping to cover future fashion weeks for them this summer and fall!
Current favorite designer: Basso & Brooke… I’m obsessed with their wild prints and fascinated by their body of work!
Dream Job or Career: Fashion designer and stylist who DJs at night while pursuing a degree in music therapy?
Recommended item can’t live without: My bow-tie collection. So versatile… for the hair or the collar!
Recommended beauty tip: Wow, this is so not my department, I doubt I can come up with anything original…
Recommended travel Destination: Gent, Belgium! I fell in love with this unbelievably charming city when I visited in March. Tons of beautiful canals, a huge pedestrian-only city center, vibrantly colorful architecture, street art, happy students milling about, a real laid-back yet exotic and Flemish vibe! So dreamy! So sad I was only able to visit for the day, I’ve heard it’s even more beautiful at night.
Recommended food/dish to try: Ethiopian! Try the strangely sour and spongy bread, called Injera, with a lamb dish! O if you’re vegetarian, try lentils or a tomato salad! Eating Ethiopian is fun, because you have to eat with your hands! I wish I had friends who liked it as much as I do…
Recommended book to read: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde… a classic for a reason. The paradoxes of Lord Henry will entrance and intrigue you! Such a beautiful book, and I don’t even read that much!
Recommended movie to see: Man on Wire, (not to be confused with Man on Fire!) a beautiful, beautiful documentary about Frenchman Philippe Petit, a tightrope walker who was determined to walk between the Twin Towers in the 1970s. So inspirational and breathtaking, set to a lovely soundtrack.
Recommended advice to anyone who aspire to be like me: Don’t be afraid to boldly mix patterns and colors! Dare people to give you weird looks!
