Name: Tamar Kendall

Full time Profession: I am a Fashion Stylist – specialising in Lingerie, Hosiery and Swimwear. I have been doing it since a career change in 2003. I was previously a make-up artist.

Website: http://www.tamarkendall.com, http://lingeriestylist.wordpress.com/

Location: Buckinghamshire, UK

Recent mentions (magazines, TV, Ads): I am being featured in the May edition of Bucks Style magazine, UK.

Most recent accomplishment: Since 2009 when I had my daughter I see every day as an accomplishment! It can be really tough working in the demanding fashion industry, and keeping up with the daily demands of motherhood.  If I have a day where I manage to balance the two, I feel like I’ve done well.

Current favorite designer: I’m currently getting a lot of inspiration from vintage Cacharel.  I love remastering classic designs.

Dream Job or Career: Styling is definately my dream career but working freelance can be tough, I would love to work in-house for a successful publication.

Recommended item can’t live without: I could not live without Touche Eclat! I know it sounds cliche but it really is a life saver when it comes to waking up bleary eyed. If I have an important meeting with a publication or photographer, I have to look bright eyed and bushey tailed!

Recommended beauty tip: As a general rule I would say less is more when it comes to make-up. There is nothing worse than seeing a face covered thick with foundation or garish eyeshadow. Keep it light and natural looking.

Recommended travel Destination: My favourite place to go is Spain. I spent a lot of my childhood there and I crave visiting most of the year. As a country it is so rich in culture and personality. People are so friendly and hospitable in Spain, as soon as I step off the plane I feel relaxed and at home. Sangria and tapas always go down well too!

Recommended food/dish to try: The best meal I’ve ever had was at Asia de Cuba on St. Martins Lane in London. I tried ostrich steak and it was surprisingly good. I think it’d good to broaden your tastes by trying something new from a menu whenever dining out – you don’t know what you could be missing out on!
Recommended book to read: No way can I pick just one, I am such a book worm!! As a fun heartwarming read I would highly recommend The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime, by Mark Haddon. It is written from the point of view of a young boy with Aspergers Syndrome and my heart just melts every time I read it. My favourite serious novel is The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini. I promise it will make you cry, and I promise it is a million times better than the movie adaptation.

Recommended movie to see: The Shawshank Redemption, it’s such an epic must-see movie. If you haven’t seen it yet you are missing out.

Recommended advice to anyone who aspire to be like me: Hard work. If you really want to make it in the fashion industry you have to grow tough skin and prepare yourself for the knock backs, because trust me, there will be A LOT of knock backs along the way. But most importantly, always conduct yourself professionaly, and always be positive.

Message to readers: Tamar Kendall has recently joined the blogging world, cataloging her travels with work and interviewing new designers. She has a penchant for clutch bags (current collection somewhere in the region of 70) and brand new stationery – what could possibly better than the crisp white pages of a new notepad ready to receive all your thoughts and feelings?

Wearing: Vintage shirt from Camden Market in London, Topshop soft jeans, French Connection platforms, Vivienne Westwood skull necklace, Religion multi-chain necklace.

This girl has great style, so I am not surprised she is a stylist. I loved reading her recommendations and insights. I have to say I agree with her choice of Spain – I have been to many wonderful destinations, but nothing goes past authentic Spanish cuisine!
